Hostoak started as a personal studio project of mastermind Olmo Cascallar (Gamora, ex-Criminal) . Many things have changed since. Now, three other musicians join him in the band: Ekaitz Bravo (voice), Nikolas Yurramendi (bass) and Julen Lusar (drums).
Musically, they used to mingle progressive and alt-rock, now their sound has evolved. It features now low tuned eight-string guitars, they've incorporated post-metal, post-hardcore, djent and prog metal melodies to the fold into their new songs.
"Ostera": Basque word meaning three things "Rountrip/Again/Whereas"
We come from darkness to light. To speak and to be heard. We´ve felt the need to make this proposal entirely in basque, our mother tongue, as a counter act against the isolation of basque rock and metal music. Continuing the 90´s flow, completing the chain of succession. But somehow, with updated more lyrical sounds and melodies, self-critical to our society and singing unabashedly to the management of internal conflicts.
