HPS or Helder Pedro Salazo, born on September 15, 1993 in Luanda, Angola. He came to the Netherlands at the age of six, in the year 2000 as a political refugee. From 2000 to 2006 he lived in various refugee camps. His love for music started early. At the age of 5 he watched a video tape of Michael Jackson's (History) album. From that moment he was completely sold and crazy about music. He later became acquainted with artists such as Usher and Chris Brown. He saw both of Michael Jackson's elements coming back, such as singing and performing at the same time. He was also inspired by that and started to develop his dance skills. HPS is at home in all markets, sometimes also dropping a number of bars into its music. As a child he was mainly inspired by rappers like Kanye West, 50 cents and Nas. HPS is a versatile artist who also feels connected to his African roots. He also wants this to be reflected in his music.
