Sean and Michael are lifelong buddies. Proud Cork culchies, they realised early in life that their talents were not on the GAA pitch. So, they focused their energies on smoking, listening to Ska records and trying to get the shift. But then they discovered they could act and make people laugh. They started writing comedy sketches. Acting in many plays, they honed their craft. In 2016 Michael become a professional theatre artist. He started Hubcap Theatre with Sean. They both wanted to make theatre that they would like to see themselves: Life affirming stories about ordinary people doing extraordinary things. They started to make characters that mirrored real people in modern rural Ireland. In 2019 they started touring their first play, The Parish. They travelled the highways and byways of Ireland bringing the show to halls, art centres and theatres. 2025 saw the boys release their second production, Mary’s Hopes and Dreams. This was an instant hit. Audiences especially loved the Cattle Dealer song which features in the play. So the boys recorded it and made a music video.
