Hudson Laird is an American singer, songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. He began honing his skills on guitar, drums, and piano at the early age of eight.
Hudson first gained recognition as the lead guitarist and founding member of the Southern rock band Bishop Gunn—best known for their track “Shine,” which became the theme song of Theo Von’s podcast. The band also toured with Slash, The Rolling Stones, and earned a reputation for their “Guns N’ Roses-style off-stage antics.”
After departing from Bishop Gunn in 2018, Hudson briefly stepped away from the music industry to pursue a career in film. Interestingly, he had already landed his first film job as a production assistant on Paul McCartney’s “Early Days” music video in 2013, before his music career had fully taken off. He went on to work in various film departments—including Art, Props, and Costumes—on productions such as “Rust” (with Alec Baldwin), “The Old Way” (with Nicolas Cage), and “Get On Up” (with Chadwick Boseman).
Ultimately, Hudson found a way to merge his two creative passions—music and film—through composing. He made his debut as a composer with the original score for “The Wolf & The Lamb.”
Additional career highlights include session and guitar work for artists such as Justin Timberlake, Machine Gun Kelly, and Aloe Blacc, among others.
