Hugh Dawson is an indie folk/singer songwriter from Brisbane.
“The Etchings EP” has been the result of months of writing, recording, and producing. Featuring 5 tracks, Hugh set out to make a piece of music that reflects his own style and the styles of his most inspiring artists. The songs from “The Etchings EP” are heavily inspired by the likes of John Martyn, Dan Auerbach, Ben Howard, Mac DeMarco, and A Blaze of Feather. The EP reflects these influences through its song structures and instrumentation. Hugh used a Guild Thunderbird, Maton S60, Korg Volcabeat, and a range of pedals to guide himself through the recording process. What came was a small list of tracks that have their own unique groove and experiment with the fusion of folk guitar parts and drum machines that utilize a hip hop/dance groove, a strange mixture that still works in its own weird way. “The Etchings EP” is set to release on the 12th of January, 2022.
