Pianist and composer, Hugo Oliveira was born in Lisbon. His parents bought him his first piano and planted the seeds of a non endless passion.
Hugo studied at the Music School of the National conservatory in Lisbon, graduating with a piano diploma. From 1984 to 1994 his talents would win him a Calouste Gulbenkian scholarship and since an early age many other awards. In 2007 he won the Portuguese TV show “Aqui há talento” alongside Abstractin.
These experiences opened Hugo’s vision to new music influences, contemporary arts and modern sounds. Hugo has played for lyrical vocalists, theatre, disc jokeys and developed a special passion for the ballet world. Oliveira is currently, an invited pianist of the National Conservatory of Ballet of Portugal and an invited assistant at the Superior School of Dance in Portugal, and has played for other companies in Portugal and Brazil.
HOME is the personification of a long beloved dream of finally showing the world his compositions. This album was born during COVID-19 state of emergency, after long quarantine nights alongside his piano. HOME brings us melancholic, minimalistic and contemplative sonorities that remind us about human fragility and solitude, but also hope for new beginnings.
The full-length HOME will arrive after the Portuguese Music Festival - Iminente, where Hugo was invited to play by the world known artist Vhils.
