HUSHPUPPY is the solo passion project of Zoë Brecher, a NYC-based musician. Although she is a multi-instrumentalist, she is best known for her work as a drummer and has played with notable artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Sad13, Sammus, Kalbells, King Tuff, Sasami, Palehound, Oberhofer, Total Slacker and many others. She has also performed numerous times on late-night TV shows. In 2023, Zoë was the guest drummer for a week with the 8G band on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
For HUSHPUPPY, Brecher writes and records all of the music herself. Although she has been drumming since she was 10, she began writing songs at an even younger age. In 2016, she began posting short pop songs centered on gay love and relationships under the name HUSHPUPPY to her Bandcamp page and has been releasing music under that name ever since. Brecher says, “With my music, I want to make people feel good, and I want them to know they are not alone when they don’t.”
