Traditional instrumental surf music with an edge is the best way to describe Sacramento's Hypnotic IV!
Formed in 1997 from the ashes of a few local and out of town bands, the Hypnotic IV started small in their back yard shed and crafted what is now known as ...Hypnofonic!
Their current line up features Andy Vaughan and Jay Lemen on guitars, Michael Hensch on bass, and Kevin Coughlin on drums. Using only vintage Fender, Mosrite, and Gretsch guitars and Fender Showman amps gives the Hypnotic IV their traditional tone. Adding the players varied influences also lends the music a slight edge and its own original feel.
The band performs a dynamic and lively set filled with high energy reverb drenched originals and occasionally adding obscure 60's surf tunes that will surely have you shakin' and shimmyin' to their surf beat. The newest addition to their set is the showing of vintage 16mm films, which truly make the Hypnotic IV a multi-media event.
