Hypochondrische Ängste are a Leipzig based ensemble combining displaced grooves, style collages and rapidly recited lyrics with no fear of stretching boundaries while restricting material resembling the fast pace and drowsiness of a presence racing forward on hot ground, off guard and off rails, having fun though. Philipp Martin is a bustling bass player and composer coming up with this ensemble to peform a radical rethinking of musical structures and narratives with long time musical partners Fabian Stevens and Jan Frisch. Lyricist Jorinde Minna Markert is a perfect match with associative lyrics, garish images and scattered patterns of speech. Renowed vibraphone player Volker Heuken provides the harmonic meat to a raw rhythmic skeleton that is the music of those hypochondriac anxieties. Be not prepared for an evening of non-song-songs negotiating urbanal legends, real authentic berlin street love, modern day icaruses, clownish canons, serios jokes and long sunken deutschlantis with algorithmic ways of thinking and a musical machine with troubled gears.
