North Essex post rock outfit iAlpha - “an ethereal shoegaze” with elements of trip-hop and subtle twists of rhythm.
Established as friends from college - Joe, Jake, Jack and Frank, spent two years writing, recording and producing their first EP “The Futility of Autonomy” featuring singles “Ragman Roll” and “Cockaigne”.
The band’s single from the EP, “Ragman Roll” instantly sparked interest with its attractive layers and progressive structure. Topping number one on the Amazing Radio chart for several weeks in a row, and claiming number twelve on Amazing Radio’s chart of 2017 for the year.
Since then, iAlpha have continued to digitally release their songs through iTunes & Spotify, many of which have also been played on BBC Introducing.
The band have also performed in venues such as: Colchester Arts Centre, The Dublin Castle in Camden, The Fiddler’s Elbow, and many other popular renowned music vicinities within the Essex & London areas.
In April 2019, they published their latest single, “Clarion Call”, described as being ‘bass-heavy’, ‘engaging’, and another ‘strong number’. “Clarion Call” is set to feature on the band’s second EP, scheduled to be released later this year.
Meanwhile, iAlpha have lined up a few set dates for performances this year and will continue to announce shows leading into the new year.
