Based in Manchester in the UK, iamkyami creates a colourful world around her that incorporates her passions as a music producer, artist and content creator. Drawing from a diverse range of inspirations as a Japanese and Black American queer femme, she began releasing her alternative J-pop RnB-inspired music in 2019. After dropping her debut EP, "Life of Ky," in 2020, Kyami's self-produced experimental pop sound developed during the global pandemic which can be heard on the 2022 EP, "The Kenny Klubhouse." In 2023, she returned with the bilingual Japanese-English single "ichigo," followed by dynamic tracks like "tina" and the collaborative ESEA Music release "I LUV MY LIFE" ft Jason Kwan, Lucy Tun, Josie Man.
Originally from Upstate New York, Kyami's musical roots intertwine with a decade of Tae Kwon Do and a congressional service award for 10k volunteer community service hours. Despite diverse skills, Kyami pursued her dreams, leading to music features in Samsung and Nike ads, collaborations with brands like ASOS and Ugg, and support slots at international festivals. 2023 marked her first international festival appearance in Hannover, Germany, along with performances at renowned venues and acclaim from BBC 1Xtra, BBC Introducing Radio 1, and various publications including Rolling Stone, Wonderland, The Line of Best Fit and Clash magazine.
