Ian Hill

As a hobbyist musician, finding time for what you love can be a challenge, and finding the energy to actually record and distribute that music is an even greater challenge. Obido is Ian Hill's first full album of original music, designed to transport you to a warm dusky evening where you can kick back and dwell for a while in a fancy seaside villa. Let the leading nylon guitar take you on a stream of consciousness journey that drifts across periods of decorum, foreboding, anxiety, suspension, epiphany, and tranquility while the supporting cast of strings and synths ebbs and flows in response. The album is split into three movements that echo off of each other, loosely restating cadences, techniques, and structure to emulate thoughts that return and morph over time. No artificial intelligence was used in the creation of this album; the guitar was recorded with a close mic in an 8th-floor apartment, a majority of the synths are custom Massive patches built from scratch, and all mixing and mastering was done by hand.
