IAN KITA (Zlín, Czech Republic)
Jan Zelinger, known by his stage name Ian Kita, has been active on the electronic music scene since the late 1990s. He began DJing in 1998, when he first got hands-on with vinyl mixing techniques. Since 1999, he has been performing at club nights and major festivals such as Hradhouse, Citadela, Summer of Love, Beat for Love, Coal Festival, and many others. In addition to performing across the Czech Republic, he has also played in Germany, Poland, Luxembourg, and Slovakia.
He started producing his own music in 2001. His first vinyl release, Volkom, came out in 2003 on Samopal Records. In 2011, he released his debut solo EP I Have to Say on Naked Records. Since then, he has released music on labels such as Natura Viva, RDST Records, Black Square Recordings, Egothermia Records, Yin Yang Records, Baikonur Records, Licker Records, Ushuaia Music, Family Grooves, Plastik Galaxy, and many more.
He has been performing under the alias Ian Kita since 2011. His musical style moves between Techno, Tech House, and Deep House. He is the founder and resident of the longest-running club night in the Zlín region – 100% Tech House. Since 2021, he has also co-organized the Sklep House series at Club Sklep 33 in Zlín, alongside DJ Manisch.
In 2023, he placed 3rd in the Bass Awards in both the DJ and Producer of the Year categories for the Czech Republic. In 2024, he took 3rd place in the Techno Producer of the Year category.
