Raised in Brooklyn NY, iCEE CORTEZ moved to Florida when he was 13 years old, after his oldest brother was shot and killed over a drug debt. His father split soon after, unable to manage a family with his alcoholism. His mother then raised her two kids on her own, enrolling both siblings into free music programs to avoid paying sitters
Around Soulja Boy's emergence into Rap, he quickly became iCEE's idol, due to his SelfMade hustle and Do-it-Yourself mentality. iCEE bought himself a $100 microphone the next day, and began his journey into the rap game
iCEE's first mixtape, "The Fresh Start" (2009), racked in over 200,000 views on youtube and over 1,000 downloads on Datpiff with NO promotion. He also produced & engineered each track hisself, with no previous experience. In 2011, iCEE released his 2nd project "Summer Chills" which featured rappers Soulja Boy and Jody Highroller aka Riff Raff. Sadly, none of this mattered when in 2012, iCEE was torn from his place as a promising upcoming rapper and sentenced to 4 years in Prison
After watching his music career fade while locked up, iCEE CORTEZ returns hungrier than ever. This is evident in his first full-length project, "Blame it on the Drugs," again engineered & produced by iCEE himself. His versatility shines thru each track he creates, with no two EVER sounding the same. Syrupy bars, melodic harmonies and swift punch lines combine to create some of the most creative Rap we've ever seen.. And he's just gotten started
