As an accomplished percussionist, performer, and teacher from Kenya, Idd Aziz's passion for music began at the early age of 13. A few years later, Idd was already touring the world. Idd grew his musical experiences through collaborations with renowned musicians of varying styles and genres – including Heing Siumaro, the Trondheim Orchestra as well as African greats like <a href="spotify:artist:51qUDJb5AtQX6jIL4VJx6M" data-name="Angelique Kidjo">Angelique Kidjo</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0VVnWF3KNaa5O7ESohKhAx" data-name="Salif Keita">Salif Keita</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:41ekW4MXG59xJMXR8dX1OG" data-name="Alpha Blondy">Alpha Blondy</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:77zlytAFjPFjUKda8TNIDY" data-name="Youssou N'Dour">Youssou N'Dour</a>.
In 2014, he released his hit single 'Come Dada' featuring Kenyan hip hop artist Khaligraph Jones and was of the Kenyan delegation of musicians who performed at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington DC. Idd has maintained a busy schedule of performances at various events and festivals including the Lamu Art Festival, Wilder Festival, Pawa 254 Fest among others. He was also a member of the Coke Studio Africa house band in 2017. He has recorded and released radio hit singles including the acclaimed 'Kiswahili' in praise of the Swahili language that is common in the East African region. Over the years, being one of the most distinctive vocalists in Africa, Idd Aziz has been exploring all aspects of his music, in an effort to use it as a tool in different ways including healing. He is passionate about ethnic, and cultural music and its place in African society. He is also a proud representative of his Mijikenda culture.
