Idris Elba is best known as an award-winning actor, with standout roles in The Wire, Luther, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, and films like American Gangster, The Suicide Squad, and The Harder They Fall. Alongside his screen career, Elba has built a respected presence in music as a producer, rapper, and collaborator. His debut album, Mi Mandela (2014), was inspired by his portrayal of Nelson Mandela and drew from South African music traditions, featuring artists like James Blake, Mr. Hudson, and the Mahotella Queens. He followed with Murdah Loves John (2016), a moody, character-driven hip-hop album tied to Luther, and The Yardie Mixtape (2018), a reggae-influenced release accompanying his directorial debut.
