Igor Starshinov

"Igor Starshinov is a composer of electronic music from St. Petersburg, author of a series of lectures on synthesizer music, collector of analog retro instruments, laureate of the Sergei Kuryokhin festival (Electromechanics 2017), and also a member of the post-punk band PLOHO. He was born in the city of Tikhvin in Leningrad Oblast, and started to play music in 2003, at the age of 14. Over the last 18 years he has created a lot of musical projects working in different genres, from avant-garde and experimental noise to electronic club music. Igor has released many music albums, collaborated with many renowned musicians, various theatrical and choreographic groups. Apart from having had a countless number of performances in Russia and abroad, Igor has also participated in organization of several festivals, creative spaces and concerts.
The hallmark and the uniqueness of his approach is that Igor never prepares his concerts, allowing himself to play his music “here and now”. What’s interesting is that Igor never uses computers in his work, and instead applies such analogue equipment as vintage synthesizers and drum machines for composing."
