Illuminaut is a progressive alternative rock group out of Los Angeles. The project is a collaboration between multi-instrumentalist/producer Ben Taylor and vocalist/lyricist Blaze Powers. The band draws from a wide array of influences; from progressive artists such as Tool and The Mars Volta, to angular sludge rock in the vein of Baroness and Soundgarden.
“This isn’t just heavy rock n’ roll music – it’s sonic brutality with a complicated, intellectual center…there’s no getting around the potential that their hybrid style is going to have if cultivated in the right manner” - Indie Pulse Music
“The SoCal rock scene is well-represented by Illuminaut in their debut eponymous record, combining elements that stretch from the desert to the coast and beyond whilst sticking with a complex formula for making simple melodies sound as powerful as those of a symphony orchestra” - Independent Music & Arts, Inc.
“If progressive/hard rock metal is on the outs in the music industry or needs a comeback, Illuminaut will lead the way” - Divide and Conquer Music
“Illuminaut is quite the progressive unit, but they’re not engaging in the typical dimensions of art-rock by any means here…they’ve got a tightness that could easily challenge some of the biggest name players in all of alternative rock right now” - Ballyhoo Magazine
