Imani Shola

A winner of the July 2024 UK R&B Christian Charts, Imani was raised on music, the daughter of a jazz saxophonist. Hailing from North London, UK, the multi-instrumentalist grew up on a diet of jazz, soul and gospel.

Although an introvert, the soul artist first captivated audiences with her live vocals on YouTube and Instagram. What often strikes listeners is her care for them, present in every lyric, and reflected in her books and other works.

Fusing neo and retro soul with alt RnB groove, Imani draws from diverse early influences; mainly jazz and soul greats. Her Gospel sound was largely shaped by Darwin Hobbs, Kirk Franklin, Israel Houghton and Mary Mary. Vocally, Imani blends a soulful smoothness reminiscent of Cleo Sol, Sade and Snoh Aalegra, with a captivating vocal range reminiscent of influences Nao and Nina Simone, showcased through intricate harmonies.

Imani's explorative 2023 EP, Mapmaking, Vol. I, showcased her versatility as a composer. Her 2024 releases won her Spotify's editors' attention, and selection for their editorial playlists Rhythm & Praise, All New Christian & Gospel and Fresh Finds Faith, for 16 weeks running.

Her upcoming releases will draw listeners back to her RnB soul niche.

Imani's distinctive harmonies and truth-filled lyrics wrap listeners in a rich sense of God’s love. She believes that if the music is good, people of all backgrounds will consider its message of hope.
