In The Esky!
Formed in Townsville, QLD, circa 2006 with Robby Wood (guitar and vocals), Josh ‘Esky’Askew (vocals), Julian ‘Jigsy’ Simpson (drums) and Gary Turner (bass).
After writing and gigging on a considerable volume of original material, the band saw a string of line-up changes and a protracted hiatus with key members moving interstate, mainly for family reasons and employment prospects.
In 2014, founding members, Robby and Jigsy relocated to Robby’s home town of Geelong, VIC and revitalised the band, initially as a three piece, with Paddy (guitarist) on bass. Recognising the need to enhance their sound, the band enlisted a dedicated bass-player, allowing Paddy to provide the ripping, lead guitar, now a key element of their energetic, ‘blues-on-crack’ sound.
Since then, following further line-up changes, Esky have released their debut EP, Kirb and built an extensive gig portfolio, supporting such international acts as Long Knife (USA), Sore Points (CAN) and most recently, Punk AF Radio UK, Australian Tour.
Now, with a solid line-up and more powerful sound than ever, Esky is returning to the studio to record their debut album.
In The Esky! is ever-committed to kicking down, throwing up and delivering a highly energetic, entertaining, live performance!
