The album and the passion of fado

The release of the album "Saudade" in 2017 tells a story of passion related to Fado de Coimbra. In Versus - Grupo de Fados e Guitarradas de Coimbra illustrate a strong connection to the city of Coimbra and to the Portuguese fado guitar. “Saudade” reflects the nostalgia related to life and many moments that pass and leave us unforgettable feelings. We also wish to invoke the absence of our longtime colleague Miguel Drago who can no longer play with us. Miguel will certainly continue to influence who we are and the way we understand tradition linked to fados and guitarradas of Coimbra.

The genesis of In Versus dates back to 1999. It arose from the academic experience provided by years of socializing in Versus Tuna - Tuna Académica da Universidade do Algarve. The roots of this project were born among students and former students of the University of Algarve. This musical project has had, throughout its history, students of the University of Coimbra, University of Porto and University of the Algarve.

In Versus is considered as the reference in this musical style in Portugal south of Coimbra. The group has been a regular presence in the Monumental Serenatas Académicas. The serenades on the stairs of the Cathedral of Faro and the Carmo Church, in Faro, organized by the Academic Association of the University of Algarve, are special moments of the celebrations of the Algarve Academy. We also love cosy and warming concerts for small groups.
