Insomniac Wookies are just as they sound: the cookie-based interstellar ensemble, now taking roots in Syracuse. A collective of international origin, Insomniac Wookies consists of drummer and composer Basile Touratier, the pink percussionist Jared Alvarez, bass master Mitch Taylor, Luke the beast on Saxophone, guitar guru Peter Groppe, keys commander Sam Ronan and Noah Steinberg the dark father-engineer. Their styles and influences are as diverse as the cookie selection at Insomniac Cookies: from funk to house, jazz to improvised (and anything else they’re in the mood for!). Insomniac Wookies is bringing new perspectives on composition, performance and collaboration to the Syracuse University community. Recent collaborations include "Sarah Gross" and members of "NoNewFriends.", and the space-team is currently producing a number of recorded works to be released later this year.
