Intimate Journals is an experimental electronic music project. It began in March 1987, in the pre Second Summer of Love era, when Carlos Palombini and Paul Cartledge studied in Brixton, London. They recorded their debut album, Have Your Dream, on analogue tape in Soho at Tony Visconti’s Good Earth Studios, where the two-inch master tapes remained in storage for decades. In the meantime, Carlos obtained his PhD in Music, received the Westrup Prize, and went on to analyse Brazilian EDM. Paul became the studio manager at Good Earth and went on to work in sound engineering, most prominently on the Grammy nominated album Duets and the Grammy Award winning album Duets 2, both by Frank Sinatra. He later moved into music production and composition for television and film. Around 30 years after the original sessions, Paul found the tapes while clearing out the attic and decided to have them baked and transferred. So we have Intimate Journals re-mixed and released into the 21st century. We hope you find these restored recordings to be delightful! They capture the fresh-faced excitement of being let loose to experiment in a world-class studio environment populated with analogue synthesisers, where Bowie and a pageant of other incredible artists recorded.
