Ionică Moroșanu (born Ioan Moroșanu Cimpan on July 30, 1987, in Satu Mare, Romania) is a Romanian folk artist known simply as “Moroșanu” to family and friends. Trained at Satu Mare’s Music School and the “Aurel Pop” Art High School, he started performing professionally at just 10 years old, singing alongside his brother and a close friend in a traditional folk band. He released his debut album in 1999 with local label Sendus Music, followed by another release the next year. After strong regional success, he signed with Sonex Records in 2001 and launched “Faină-i frunza codrului,” featuring acclaimed taragot player Ionel Sabo. Following years focused on live shows across Maramureș, Moroșanu moved to Bucharest in 2005, expanding his audience through singles and constant touring. Since 2014, he has worked with Sprint Music, earning a reputation for his energetic presence, warmth, and ability to lift any room. Fan favorites include “Io si cu Vasile a Nost,” “Arde-l-ar Focul de Pat,” and “Asa-mi place mie” (2021), released with a cinematic video filmed across Moldova.
