Influenced by '90s speed metal -- especially by Bay Area metal/punk crossover bands Cro-Mags and Corrosion of Conformity -- Iron Age formed in their home city of Austin, TX, in 2005. Hoping to further blur the line between hardcore and thrash, after undergoing several changes they eventually decided on a permanent lineup: vocalist Jason Tarpey, drummer Reed Thomas, bassist Matt Jackson, and duel guitarists Matt Jackson and Wade Allison. After releasing their first demo on Tarpey's own label, Next Level Records, the group followed it up with the Constant Struggle full-length on Youngblood Records. A few 7"s and EPs were pressed around this time and after some extensive touring, there were some more lineup changes. Thomas quit the band, and Tarpey's brother Jared and roommate Logan came into the fold. ~ Jason Lymangrover, Rovi
