Isleña es una artista única que da voz a su pueblo, como Ana Tijoux, con una inmensa habilidad para crear hits de pop urbano pegadizo, como Bomba Estéreo y que emplea una base instrumental elaborada y de calidad, reminiscente de Fela Kuti.

Isleña Antumalen possesses what critics used to call musical understanding, but pure instinct is probably a better term. Her vocals waver through a daring yet inherently natural mix of Mapuche and Spanish, an intercultural lexicon of phrases (or neologisms) that generate exciting new rhythms and magnetic songs packed with insightful verses that never attempt to sermonize or preach to the listener, but simply tell her truth. The result is a multi-layered sound that might seem improvised, even reflective, yet brims with an infectious groove and spirit made for dancing.
