Pioneer of Indie-whatever, Ivory Car Dice devotes themselves to establishing authenticity in each divulging line. Amanda Wedel is a lyricist, audio engineer, producer, and songwriter from southern New Hampshire. With her heart in upstate New York and soul in Boston, her sound is defined by her ever-changing vocal timbre and anomalous instrumental orchestrations. Amanda takes heavy musical influence from 90's punk, early 20th century classical, and 2010's sapphic indie pop. Beating the beast that is genre is her goal- which is exercised in her debut album Library (2022), released November 23, 2022. Her sudden jumps from punk, to lo-fi, to symphonic do not fail in giving the listener stylistic whiplash with each passing track.
She denotes lyricism as the focal point of her work, with an emphasis on esoteric storytelling and intense expression, which prompts her disregard for a singular sound. Her songwriting is inspired by personal experiences with the taboo and grim- ranging from anger from unjustified death to bittersweet memories involving queerness and the occult. Amanda creates individual sonic terrains for each story in effort to accurately reflect the raw emotion of each subject. Whether sultry strings or distorted guitars, Amanda hopes to make the listener feel deeply with each piece.
