For more than 15 years, IXION have carved out a special and recognized place within the doom sphere, with their singular blend of ambient/electronic music and atmospheric doom metal, often drawing from science-fiction.
Born in 2004 from the compositions of Julien Prat, the project started as a duo with the participation of Thomas Saudray, and revealed the demo Through the Space we die in 2007.
Joined by Yannick Dilly, IXION refined their style and released their first full album To the Void in 2011 on Avantgarde Music.
In 2015, Enfant de la Nuit represented a great leap forward, with some more gothic orientated tracks. It also marked the arrival on the label Finisterian Dead End.
Two years later, Return was an opportunity for Julien and Yannick, from then on working as a duo, to explore a more aquatic, terrestrial, and luminous concept.
Julien got on with new compositions in 2018, and the idea came to make a condensed and focused album, highlighted by thorough arrangements and the most ambitious production from the project, to bring to light the essence of IXION’s music. L’Adieu aux Etoiles was released in 2020 via 28978 Productions and Finisterian Dead End. Like some of its predecessors, it was nominated as best doom metal album on Metalstorm awards and has quickly become the most listened and recognized opus to date from IXION.
In 2024, IXION announce their new album EVOLUTION, a three-part opus about mankind, androids, their interactions and post-humanism.
