J Byrd, born Janelle Mighty, was raised on the vibrant island of Jamaica. Surrounded by the rich musical culture of her island home, she was drawn to the rhythmic beats and soulful melodies that filled the air. This fueled her passion for the performing arts and fostered her love for music.
J Byrd currently calls Kelowna British Columbia home and has been performing all around the Okanagan region. Her soulful voice coupled with her infectious energy on stage continues to garner much attention. J Byrd draws her inspiration from family and other influential artists; Sade, Rihana and Tessanne Chin being some of her favorites. As she continues to soar to new heights, she remains grounded in her roots and grateful for the journey that has brought her to where she is today. From singing along to tunes in her backyard from various genres, to now performing on stages, J Byrd’s talent has fully blossomed.
