J. Dewveall is the irreverent chaplain of Americana music. Obsessed with existential stuff, he doesn’t just make music; he sings practical theology in E-flat minor. His brand of comfort blues and alt-country soul provides a soundtrack to exploring life’s big questions, rooted in human experience and emotion.
Dewveall is a native Texan, from the Houston area, but has called Nashville, TN home since 2008, and the American South has certainly given him a backdrop on which to build his musical philosophy. He pushes the boundaries of our comfort when tackling questions about faith, beliefs, and society, delivering lyrics with the grit of bands like Drive-by Truckers, but sung with honey on the tongue, like Chris Stapleton.
