In the event of any dismal calamity, there would be less pertinent choices for king of the hill.. J. Don Mcklovin, better known as 'Arkansas Reaper xf113v' would not disagree.
In 1978, predating the fall of Lou Reed by almost twenty years, Mcklovin' and his backing band 'The rambutan sally's' broke the proverbial bank, pioneering a new fusion of Krautrock synergy and acid noise, inspiring hundreds of prospective outfits of the time.
Although rumours circled in the early 80s that Mclovin had been incarcerated for aggravated assault (rumours spread by a jealous ex-lover) and despite the raucous social disparity in his home town of Florence, somehow the multi instrumentalist transcended all traditions and created his seminal masterpiece 'Verse Chorus, Verse Chorus' which was received with critical and international acclaim.
The turn of the century saw Mclovin returning to his roots, the transcendental hums of Florence mixed with blaring, obnoxious folk renditions that earned him a seat in the pantheon of prodigious improvisers not even Ornette Coleman or Sally Renton could touch.
Mclovin is currently on vipassna in preparation for his seminal world tour, titled "The Rabbit of Duchess Rock' already booked out in New York, London and Senegal despite minor hinderences by COVID 19.
