British pop singer Jacki Bond cut three little-noticed but sublime girl group singles for the Strike label during the mid- '60s. Little is known about Bond's background -- according to the liner notes in the fourth volume of RPM's excellent Dream Babes series, she had virtually no musical experience when she signed on with Strike as a secretary, but label chiefs nevertheless shepherded her into the studio, and in 1965 she issued her debut single, "My Sister's Boy." Though licensed to EMI, the record was not a hit and in 1966 Bond recorded a follow-up, "Don't You Worry ('Bout Me)." Her third single, "He Say," was her best yet, a stomper cut from the classic American girl group mold, but Strike's limited marketing budget effectively crippled its chances from the outset.
