The current emo-folk musical works of the St. Louis-based Jackson Riordan are the result of many years of perfecting his singer-songwriter craft. While young, the Berklee-alum is far from a rookie musician - the 28-year-old multi-instrumentalist released his first studio-recorded musical work while still in high school with his then-funk-and-rock group, The Motifs. Even at a young age, Jackson played various St. Louis bars and clubs while in this band, such as Satchmo’s and the FIREBIRD.
While attending Berklee College of Music, Jackson became a founding member and core-writer of the short-lived but well-loved group Flamingo Club, pairing his intricate song-writing skills with the group’s talented and varied musicianship for the band’s first album and two subsequent singles. During this time, Jackson also played guitar in the breakout indie group Mosie, joining them for their SXSW show and several underground shows.
Jackson now writes and records music as a solo musician, giving him the ability to fully actualize the complex compositions that he had spent so many years writing. When listening to Jackson’s, expect to hear the mosaic-like instrumentation, profound lyrics, and resolving melodies that are all quickly becoming trademarks of his compositions.
