Jacob James

Jacob James is a songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist from Los Angeles, California. He has independently released six studio albums including two with his alternative/doom metal band, The Kyotees as well as many EPs and singles under his Jacob James Music label. Jacob’s music can be described as both sorrowful and triumphant as he navigates through compositions whose lyrics deal with topics such as loss, mental health struggles, addiction and the ways in which we find the means to heal and persevere through life’s most harrowing moments. Jacob James has been honing his craft for well over a decade and continues to perform at venues all throughout southern California, even hosting a residency in the Fall of 2022. That same year, he released his most well-polished and refined album to date, Intemperance that found him ruminating on substance abuse and the ways in which we can be our own worst enemy in times of intense darkness and isolation. In the year 2024, Jacob is set to release his fifth official solo album that is said to be a big departure in sound, working in musical genres ranging from shoegaze, slow core and even vignettes of black metal. Though rooted in alternative and folk rock, Jacob has found a way to blend his influences into something uniquely his own, indicative in his newest single “Opulent Blue” that will be featured on a new full length project slated for Summer 2024.
