Jae-Yeon Won is a Korean pianist known for his ethereal and captivating sound, with Süddeutsche Zeitung praising him for “striking Herkulessaal with his ethereal tone.”
Mentored by legendary pianists Dang Thai Son, Kevin Kenner, and Maria João Pires, Won merges deep musical intelligence with poetic sensitivity. His recital has been showcased in major venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, Herkulessaal, Beethoven-Haus, Wiener Saal in Salzburg, Salle Cortot, Opéra Comique in Paris, Palacio de la Ópera in A Coruña, Teatro Ricardo Castro in Durango, Seoul Arts Center, and Lotte Concert Hall.
He has performed with leading orchestras including Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Das Haydn-Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, Taipei Philharmonic, and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Arvo Volmer, Enrique García Asensio, Darrell Ang, and others.
In 2024, he was appointed Artistic Director of the ARKO Ensemble in Europe, a government-backed initiative that brings together exceptional young Korean musicians across Europe. Its debut in Salzburg and Vienna was met with critical acclaim.
He also appeared in Chopin: Ich fürchte mich nicht vor der Dunkelheit, a Polish-Korean documentary co-produced by TVP and the Chopin Association, broadcast in the U.S., Japan, Switzerland, and beyond.
A Steinway Artist, Jae-Yeon Won divides his time between Austria and Korea.
