Producer Jaess has a plan. He’s been putting it together for years. Engage people who are as diehard music fans as he is and then sell them music that he knows he will love. It’s pretty ingenious… and it’s working.
Since he created his Audio Trip Podcast during the coronavirus pandemic, Jaess has been able to engage music fans from around the globe, and building on their mutual respect and trust…some incredible art has been made.
His new album, An Enlightenment of Love explores his global musical sensibilities. “I feel like the album is really leaning into a jazz space,” Jaess says. “But, at its core, it’s still really hip-hop too because every track is being made first through my MPC which is at its core—a hip-hop instrument.”
The first single on the album “From Here to There” made waves by featuring dancers from across the globe jamming out to the jazzy track. Jaess said he took a chance and just reached out to many of them via social media. Overwhelming, he got a positive response.
An Enlightenment of Love is an album for the culture and for the moment. With the coronavirus taking so many American lives and changing the way of life for the rest of us, Jaess reminds us that love is all we need. “This is an album for the culture, for your family ancestors, I believe that this album has the ability to be whatever you need it to be.”
And like, Stevie once said, “Love is in need of love today.”
