Born and raised in Gauteng, Jaey, has been making and writing music since a very young age. She once existed in what was South Africa’s youngest all female rap crew, “The Blak Beaniez,” who dismantled at a time when they were just a door away from mainstream success. To paint it in practicality, they had appeared on a Hype magazine insert, had inserts and interviews with various youth local media platforms, had an appearance and performance on Shiz Niz etc, in a time where hip hop itself wasn’t as popular a sound in South Africa, as it is today. In 2020, she is currently working on the release of her debut solo EP and has recently released her debut single titled Save Me. Always pushing her boundaries with the intent to to be more holistic; a versatile maker of music who was one of the founding members and is still part of the team that is the hip hop/Rap ensemble, Benjamin Bantu.

Jaey is constantly inspired by life around her. Her music style consists of: jazz elements; inspired by 90s R&B and Hip Hop; with a touch of New Age Soul; trap soul elements here and there. Duly inspired by the likes of Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse, Jill Scott, Aaliyah, Toni Braxton and many other various artists. On what’s to come; Jaey intends on solidifying her role as a contributor on a musical level and as a cultural icon on both a local and global scale.
