Ja'Gape'

Born in the tourist resort city of Daytona Beach, FL, a good remaining portion in the life of Ja’Gape’ spanned growing up in Nashville, TN (the renowned Music City USA) later residing in Akron, OH; (hometown of LeBron James and James Ingram). He graduated round about the same time as Howard Hewitt (Solo artist & former lead of Shalamar) from Buchtel HS. His culturally diversified & musically cultivated life serve as the foundation defining his musical style and sound.

The Ja’Gape’ style is identifiably unique with musical arrangements having a blend of funk and jazz often accompanied with soulful sultry keys, synths and harmonic vocal backgrounds.

Ja’Gape’ plays rhythm guitar, drums, piano, synths, keys, vibraphone, saxophone, congas and many miscellaneous percussive instruments. He has performed with many groups & talented musicians in Central Florida & surrounding areas with content ranging from Jazz, Pop, Reggae, Soul and RnB

Blending a foundation in Gospel with a rich diversity of his childhood uniquely contribute to much of his sound & content.

List of artists who have help to inspire and sculpt his music are too exhaustive to list but among his many primary influences are Thelonius Monk, Cannonball Adderley, Horace Silver, Duke Ellington, Herbie Hancock, Joe Sample, Curtis Mayfield, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Prince, Phyllis Hyman, Nancy Wilson, Patrice Rushen, Chaka Khan, Andre Crouch, Walter & Edwin Hawkins.
