Jaime J. Soto makes original pop and experimental music out of Tucson, Arizona.
Originally inspired by childhood heroes, <a href="spotify:artist:6IE6z7DcZIT4Ml3Fh5Ivch" data-name="Selena">Selena</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:0cQbJU1aAzvbEmTuljWLlF" data-name="No Doubt">No Doubt</a> , Jaime J. Soto took to the stage in 2003 and began to express the inner turmoil he felt growing up as a gay male mired in Tucson, Arizona’s Latino machismo culture. He would experiment with music production and performance for many years until releasing his experimental debut, <a href="spotify:album:3n90kBdzlFnCX1SxHI9XDK" data-name="FGGTFAILUR">FGGTFAILUR</a>, in 2017. The album would serve as a moment of avant-garde noise-pop with cutting lyricism from his own queer perspective.
In 2018, the legendary <a href="spotify:artist:0pWwt5vGNzezEhfAcc420Y" data-name="Mr.Kitty">Mr.Kitty</a> produced the remix <a href="spotify:album:3E61lttiiXDbMYZnTVetie" data-name="If You're My Man... (Mr.Kitty Remix)">If You're My Man... (Mr.Kitty Remix)</a>. The song opens with a confession, "I struggle within an idea of love only shared between the two of us," before kick drums and synthesizers move the non-monogamous contemplation into sonic climax. 2018 saw the emergence of new JJS pop music with the self-produced track, <a href="spotify:track:41HmDEkMBMSqtT52amvmlM" data-name="No Boy Like Me">No Boy Like Me</a> - a self-appreciative anthem about the bold presence of Jaime J. Soto in his "desert-rock" dominated hometown. <a href="spotify:album:2nycCTFHIOIz3dw0LuiPz7" data-name="Community College">Community College</a> and "Come On, Come On" are early pop tunes.
