Jake Benjamin

Jake Benjamin is a musician who wears his heart on his sleeve. Blending folk, jazz, and pop influences, Jake’s songs unapologetically explore gay love, longing, and heartbreak. Walking into a Jake Benjamin set feels like stepping into a community, one of bright heart and unflinching sincerity.

Trained at the Frost School of Music and the Jacobs School of Music, Jake has been making music for over six years. He is at home commanding an acoustic guitar, an electric guitar, or the keys, but his primary instrument is his remarkable voice. Jake has worked with renowned artists and educators, including Becca Stevens, Tierney Sutton, Darmon Meader, Walter Smith III, Kate McGarry, and James Newton Howard. He’s also served as the sideman in the band of pop artist Ricky Allson.

Jake is proud to share his latest track, a folk pop song called Never Be Mine. Inspired by the experience of watching his ex move on to find the love of their life, Never Be Mine features heartfelt lyricism and a distinct folk pop musical soundscape. It captures well the alchemy that happens when Jake turns real experiences into shimmering sound.
