Born in the Summer of ‘06, <a href="spotify:artist:1g5Y78Ts0aOUxKPndmQ8m0" data-name="Jake Pullen">Jake Pullen</a> grew up largely alienated from music, until he heard <a href="spotify:album:7ligZljXfUtcKPCotWul5g" data-name="Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of The Worlds">Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of The Worlds</a>. The futuristic sound juxtaposed with its period piece narrative would rattle around his brain for the next decade.
It all came to a head at the age of 17 when Jake released his debut single <a href="spotify:track:0ISoKsoa0XpvYkH0jeISTL" data-name="The Moon Can Hear You">The Moon Can Hear You</a>. Borrowing many artistic cues from his inspiration including an uncomfortable atmosphere, threatening guitars and a vague story which would have been expanded on with his now permanently shelved EP: ‘It Burns’.
At 18, Jake’s first major release, <a href="spotify:album:2DlnHg1UzucXq6On57nUB9" data-name="The House on Haunted Hill">The House on Haunted Hill</a>, debuted. A full-length LP based on the 1959 film of the same name. His debut album contains various famous scenes from the movie and decontextualises it as an audio-only experience.
Later in the year, Jake would produce the <a href="spotify:album:74Y2BSNOAMkYiR5OEyAJ8b" data-name="Wispwillow Manor (Official Game Soundtrack)">Wispwillow Manor (Official Game Soundtrack)</a>, an album he managed to create within the timespan of 24 hours due to the commission being so late in the game’s production cycle.
At the end of 2024, Jake’s final album of his debut year (<a href="spotify:album:4Oo2wkbsofZs7N8usmt0vx" data-name="Indestructible Man">Indestructible Man</a>) released in December. It followed the example that his first album set- as another classic movie was adapted to audio format.
As of now, Jake’s most recent release is <a href="spotify:album:6EyO4V3ev6Kzsu4d0SzTbX" data-name="I Just Did Drugs at a House Party">I Just Did Drugs at a House Party</a>, his only album to release in 2025. You can track his journey on instagram with the handle @moonmeansdanger.
