For better and for worse, Spokane’s Jacob Lloyd Rich (AKA Jake the Human) is known to find a way to do it all by himself. A DIY-er by necessity, he started writing and recording music at a young age. These amounted to not much more than song parodies or joke raps to share around with friends but taught him many skills he could apply later. When he started to focus in on songwriting, he realized the limitations he had from his equipment and wrote around it. His first two EPS, Jake the Human (2019) and Overlords (2020), were recorded exclusively on cell phones because it was the only tool available at his disposal. You can hear it all. The voice cracks, the background barks, the passion, the stubbornness to create with only the tools you have. Loaded up with a laptop and some actual microphones, Jake the Human is ready to take you on his first expedition into real rock and roll: Groundhog Day. Get your ass ready for some shaking.
