From the small town of Kristiansand, Norway, Jakob Friis is an ex-engineering student turned singer-songwriter. Leaving Norway to pursue blues rock in the U.S. Jakob studied guitar at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Mentored by session player, Kevin Barry, Friis discovered a love for both traditional roots music and songwriting, inspired by the sounds of Chris Stapleton, Susan Tedeschi, and John Hiatt. Breaking into a sound that hasn't seen a modern revival in years, his music is the fusion of traditional roots meets modern singer-songwriter.
Now back in his home country, Friis has brought his Americana fusion style to the Nordic music scene, where he performs live most nights. Friis's second album is to be released in 2024, leading with first single, "Special Kind of High," out January 9th!
