A rising star in the Korean hip hop scene, James An made his name known through Show Me The Money, reaching top 30 in Season 10. Viewers were captivated by his rap, with his clips gaining over 1.5M views on YouTube. He recently finished 2nd place as part of his team, Block 3 in the TVING original hip hop survival show Rap:Public, and has been featured in press all over Asia such as Rolling Stone India, Genius Korea, and many more.
Through continued collaborations with notable Korean hip hop artists as well as his own independent releases, James An has established his presence in the Korean hip hop scene among a variety of different subgenres.
In addition to music, James An has been actively expanding across different mediums as a multi-talented individual. He had acted in Dangerous To Know, which was selected for London FrightFest Film Festival 2020. As the founder of the very first hip hop education conference at Harvard University, he presented on “The Power of Counter-Storytelling Through Hip Hop” with Tiger JK. Furthermore, he directed and brought “The Art of Hip Hop” exhibition from the United States to Korea for the first time as well as “Sneaker Con,” the world’s largest sneaker show. Recently, he presented his research on Korean hip hop at Goethe University, Leeds University, University of Auckland, University of the Philippines, and more. He has walked and rapped on the runway for Seoul Fashion Week every season since 2023.
