James M

James Michael Matthews, born October 15, better known by his stage name James M, is an American rapper and songwriter. Born in St. Louis, MO. James M later moved to Nashville, TN where he grew up. Raised in a middle class working family, James M grew up with music at the forefront of his childhood. With parent’s that loved R&B and Jazz, he no doubt was destined to love music as well. James learned to play Clarinet and then quickly moved to Saxophone during his middle school years. James became quite proficient with the Alto and Tenor Saxophones during high school. During James’s freshman year in high school, he also began rapping. Initially James was a masterful freestyle rapper who performed during school lunch and eventually during school band performances. Soon after, James’ ability to rhyme was used in a more journal format to express his feelings which would later develop into very skillful songwriting. James released his first album in 2005, titled ‘I Just Wanna Shine’ followed by dozens of solo releases as well as several collaboration albums with other Nashville artist. Shifting gears, James is now focused on the development of Nash City Music. Stay tuned!
