Jamie Murphy is a singer-songwriter-guitarist and the author of the acclaimed book, What Every Parent Should Know about Childhood Immunization.
Murphy's music has been described as folk-rock with a conscience. His lyrics focus on love won and lost, loving yourself, homelessness, vaccines, violence in the media, relationships, spirituality, and brotherhood.
Jamie began his musical career singing and playing guitar in bands on Long Island, New York when he was in his teens. After attending the Berklee School of Music in Boston, he joined up with Van Morrison briefly as a guitarist. The band (trio) performed the music from Morrison's acclaimed album, "Astral Weeks" at a gig in Philadelphia, PA in 1968.
Jamie Murphy's first record was a 45 RPM recorded in 1977, "Pockets Full of Tales." Because of Murphy's own promotional efforts, without any record company affiliation, the record received generous airplay on WEEI-FM (a CBS affiliate in Boston).
Jamie has played in many bands and as a solo artist and continues to write, produce, and record his songs. His music is currently administered by CD Baby.
Jamie's latest Spotify releases are the singles, " The Forgotten Few" a song about homelessness and "Hello Summer" a totally upbeat swinging jazz/pop composition.
