Jan is a musician and medical doctor living on the Atlantic coast of Ireland in the seaside village of Strandhill, Co Sligo.
Born in Germany where he developed a great love of its forests and folklore, he moved to Ireland and expanded his love of nature with the sea and mountains.
Jan’s work as an Anaesthesiologist and Intensive Care Consultant is counter-balanced by creating music inspired and informed by the wild landscapes of the Atlantic seaboard.
The light ever-changing on the water and the winds pushing over the mountains, headlands and fields bring energy and momentum to his music, and his life.
Jan previously published two albums (Poseidons Traum & Momentum) under his pseudonym "startle b".
In 2022 he signed with @TraumRecords in Cologne.
The single "Ignatius von der Beat" featured on <a href="spotify:album:4wcOqyghnfhgYWy7uHujbx" data-name="Tour De Traum XXIII">Tour De Traum XXIII</a>
Later, his album “Once upon a time…” was released by @TraumRecords in 2022.
He published a collaborative EP “Deep blue” with <a href="spotify:artist:4dqFIx53AueAbJ1SqKsbw5" data-name="Tjomur">Tjomur</a> in 2022 which features “Morning light”.
The single "Rain Dub" featured on <a href="spotify:album:2rb2rd59FV8XLD4g0h98uQ" data-name="Tour De Traum XXIV">Tour De Traum XXIV</a>
In 2023 Jan’s Remix of Max Cooper’s “A Model of Reality” was released by <a href="spotify:playlist:1jS4kyQBRiU03MKh9vYmy3" data-name="Mesh - label discography">Mesh - label discography</a>.
