Hip-Hop artist and model Jasheed is a DC native who lives his truth through his music and dedication to the art of storytelling.

Honoring the legacy of his rapping partner Jawhar Stokes who was taken too soon by a rare cancer, Jasheed joined the foundation based on Stokes’ poignant saying: You Start Dying When You Stop Dreaming (YSDWYSD), as a way to encourage others to keep dreaming and realizing their own truth.

“Only you know when you’re ready,” Jasheed says as advice to other artists today, and it’s clear when you listen to Jasheed’s upcoming EP that he’s a man who’s ready to take on the world. “We’re all human, and we all relate to one emotion or another, and that’s what music is; a way to deal with your emotions and move them around and bring you back home. “Greatness Know Longer Matters?” is full of vibrant hip-hop sounds that will bring you home.

Dynamically talented, positive, and diverse, Jasheed’s sound is a fearless testament to growing up with adversity. Having lost his father at 10 years old, music found Jasheed in darkness and through his sense of humor and love for others, brought him into the shining light that is the DC music scene. His only goal is to keep dreaming. “I believe that when you stop dreaming, you start dying, and I live my life as a testament to that belief,” he says.
