Javier Brenan

I mostly sing, overthink and walk. I always say I like to play to everything and that soaks in the music. I think of myself more of a singer than a songwriter, but I needed to do both to come out there and say something remotely meaningful. Later I found out I actually had quite a lot to let out and became addicted to put the right melodies out of this labyrinth of notes in my head. Also I find it extremely challenging to write short verses, so please deal with it as I did.
I first debuted in 2018 with a two-sides single, "Takes a Lot Less", and then published three more singles. Then the ‘jota’ came along, my first song in Spanish produced alongside Dear Leo. An attempt to get the folk out of me as a born and raised Castilian lad. As I said, I like to play to all kinds of stuff… Now I’m finishing some of the new songs of my upcoming first EP, ‘The Landscape’. Meanwhile, more songs in Spanish are starting to pour out.
Some of the people I look up to are Pearl Jam, Neil Young, Father John Misty, Dawes, Patrick Watson, Rufus Wainwright, The Divine Comedy, Ben Platt, Sara Bareilles, Glen Hansard or even the Broadway songwriters duo Pasek & Paul. Theatre runs in my blood and I can’t do anything about it.
