“What makes music so meaningful is that it’s a language that’s universally understood. It transcends the normal barriers that tend to separate us as people because it has the ability to speak directly to the heart.” - Jay Colins
Music is seamlessly woven into the fabric of Jay’s life. This relationship began the day he discovered how to use his vocal chords. The first indication of his ear for music was at 2 years old. His grandmother would play classical music during car rides as he would hum along in perfect pitch.
By the age of 14 he had performed at numerous venues including the famous Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York. At 18 he began the process of branding, artist development, and learning to navigate the world of audio engineering.
The music industry came with a price as he was consumed by the destructive lifestyle of partying, drinking, drugs, and women. Addiction was the battlefield that nearly cost him his life. Jay eventually turned to spirituality in his efforts to find truth, meaning, and healing. In January of 2021 he had a powerful encounter with God, and dedicated his life to follow Jesus Christ.
“Music was my God. It’s what I served, what I lived for, and where I found my identity. Now I understand that every talent, even music itself, is a gift from The Lord. “Feel good” music may be able to change someone’s mood, but vulnerable music has the potential to change someone’s life. That is the greatest gift of them all.”
